Overlooking the tranquil waters of Lough Leane, colourful Killarney is a top Irish tourist destination. The UNESCO-listed Killarney National Park surrounds Muckross House, a stately home sitting in large grounds with a traditional farm.
A tree-lined lane leads to Muckross Abbey, a former Franciscan monastery whose cloisters enclose a tall yew tree. Celtic crosses line the cemetery and beyond is the lake, at the centre of which is a tree-lined outcrop, home of the historic Ross Castle. This 15th-century stone fortress once housed the O’Donoghue clan, one of whom reportedly lives at the bottom of the lough.

Killarney is an absolute stay to do the ring of Kerry.
Killarney is an absolute stay to do the ring of Kerry. Very touristy but the prices are reasonable for drinks and food. The town centre is lively at night with plenty of places to eat and drink and shops to buy anything you require, highly recommend.

Killarney is very walkable.
Killarney is very walkable. There are a plethora of bars, pubs, restaurants, coffee shops within a few blocks. I took the Red Bus tour and enjoyed visiting nearby attractions like the Torc Waterfall and the lovely Muckross House and Gardens. There is a beautiful 1.8 km walk from one to the other through woods and fields on an easy level path.

We've come to Ireland six times in the past 24 years but...
We've come to Ireland six times in the past 24 years but this was our first visit to Killarney. Killarney is very low on our list of places we have been. It's too crowded and touristy for our taste and, quite frankly, the Americans there acted like jerks. (As an American, I can say that.) We stayed for two nights, but could have done with one. I wanted to go to see the Gap of Dunloe, but the major jaunting car company, Killarney Jaunting Cars, did not offer a tour unless you took their Gap of Dunloe adventure package at 115 euro a pop. It was also 115 euro to rent a jaunting car from a private driver which was too expensive. We couldn't even see Torc Waterfall because we couldn't find a place to park our car. It was ridiculous. What we did: a visit to Ross Castle and Muckross Abbey, plus a jaunting car/boat excursion in the Killarney National Forest could have been done in a day. We will not be returning to Killarney again.

So magical, sparkling clean, charming fairytale steets with shopping and pubs. Great food. Too much to see for our 1.5 day stay. Beats Disneyland! As reported from a late 1950s Orange County California native! Must find a way to come back to stay in Killarney and have the time to explore Ring of Kerry in full, Kenmare, spend time doing outdoor activities and enjoy the local horseback riding, boat rides, and so much more. What Ireland dreams are made from!!
Lovely hotel perfect location, food was delicious well served well priced with plenty on the plate.
Nice relaxing hotel lounge was quiet but week day in February what would you expect.
The staff where nice and welcoming, and two min walk from town centre great hotel all and all and for 86e what a brilliant bargain .
I'll be staying again summer time I could only imagine the atmosphere that time of year.
I really enjoyed my stay thanks killarney Avenue, peaceful nice two day break away couldn't ask for better.
We brought my in laws to Ireland as a Christmas present and all was well until my father in laws health took a bad turn and he was having a difficult time walking. The Brehon staff quickly acquired a wheel chair that we were given free use of for several days. His ability to walk has returned for the present and we were very lucky to have such accommodating staff and such a magnificent hotel. The spa was absolutely magnificent and the food and service at the bar was stellar.
The staff were so lovely, particularly Briget, who was an absolute delight and made us feel so welcome. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Breakfast was some of the best we had in Ireland, and you could feel all the love that Conor and Briget put into making Gleann Fia a true home away from home. The beds were also the most comfortable we had during our whole vacation. I look forward to returning.
Should be a five star hotel! The staff are so incredibly kind and helpful and will definitely look after you during your stay, genuinely lovely people! Rooms are immaculate every time, lovely facilities and extremely comfortable bed. Amazing location, right on top of the town centre. If you’re going to stay in a hotel in Killarney, make sure it’s this one!
Glamping at the Grove was likely one of the best stays we had in Ireland and we stayed in several different places! So comfortable, clean, and unique. Sadly we only had one night here but it was worth it! I’m not fond of camping but this made me want a Glamping tent of my own. I could camp like this any time!
Fabulous hotel set in gorgeous grounds, with beautiful walks around the hotel and nearby. The room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast had plenty of choice to suit all tastes and expectations. The staff were warm, polite, friendly and professional. A short walk to the town centre (15 mins stroll)
The room was excellent (we upgraded to the Executive Suite). The locationj of the hotel was in the center of the city and we were able to sample a variety of pubs and live music. The breakfast was the best we have had in our 4 days traveling around Ireland.
Lovely Bedroom, very clean. The Bed was very comfortable. The fan was really appreciated as it was very warm during our stay. The hotel is only a 10 min walk to the town centre which is very convenient. The Beer garden at the Hotels bar (Kaynes) is very nice.
Close to the town centre. Liked the charisma of the hotel, felt like being a part of history. Very spacious and comfortable. Loved how the breakfast room was decorated and even more the breakfast, service was very quick and food delicious.
Best Hotel I’ve stayed in during my 2 week vacation in Ireland! The staff is top notch, friendly and welcoming. The beds are extremely comfortable and the food is great. Location is superb. Will stay here again and again!
The Yew Tree Restaurant was excellent. Staff were very friendly and on top of their game. The proximity to the National Park and Muckross House while away from the town centre was a real plus.
A really top quality, well situated, hotel about 15 min walk into the town centre. We received a very warm welcome from the staff/owner and the service at breakfast was exceptional.
Excellent hotel, staff very friendly and helpful, very close to town centre, lovely food and leisure centre would highly recommend, will definitely return.
